Many technology
courses have computing requirements
above and beyond other online courses you may have taken. Please review this
page for the class(es) you are considering to insure you have the computing
power to successfully start the course.
If you are taking an online class, you must have a stable Internet
connection/access and an email account. Many instructors will prefer you have DSL
or Cable as they may require you to download large files or view videos. You
should also have a Zip disk or USB Flash/Thumb drive to save your
work if you intend on using Lakeland's open labs. If you are working
on you own computer, I would suggest saving to your hard drive. If
you intend on transporting your work, the USB drive is a great method and
also a great way to backup your work. Note: Some computers on the Lakeland
campus and branches do not have 3 1/2" floppy drives or Zip drives.
Please be aware that it is the students responsibility to know how to use
a compression (zip) program. If you are unfamiliar with this operation,
please practice well before your assignments are due so you will not endanger
your grade. (See the link to tutorials, below)
